Cerrito Tropical Eco Lodge

We chose the Cerrito Tropical for our 1-night stay on Taboga. The location is good, a pleasant 5-minute walk from the port. There is a short, steepish hill to walk up but it’s really nothing much. They will also pick you up from the port if requested. We received a warm welcome from Vicki who gave us a rundown on the place as well as patiently answering all our questions about the area. There are decent views from the lodge, but unfortunately not from the rooms, unless you get the 2-bedroom apartment in the front. The view from the rooms was actually disappointing, with the rooms being rather dark due to a scarcity of windows. The room was basic but comfortable, good AC, TV, Wifi, hot water, etc. We also had a small kitchenette which we didn’t really use, but having a fridge was nice. Everything was reasonably clean and well-maintained. There is nothing really very “ecolodge-y” about it, just a basic guesthouse. There was a very inviting small plunge pool out front with lots of chairs, tables, and shade – a great spot to spend a hot afternoon. We ate a couple of pizzas for dinner prepared by Vicki and they were excellent – highly recommended. The breakfast was also very good. Drinks were overpriced, as they are in big hotels, so we just brought our own from down at the local super mini, a few minutes walk away. We were surprised that they were so expensive at the guesthouse, as most small places offer reasonably priced drinks and snacks. Overall we had a very nice stay and would definitely recommend this guesthouse to other travelers.

The room was super clean. The service probly the best in Panama. They pick you up feom the doc and take personal care of you daily. Sincerly, it the only place i will stay on that island from now on. Most of the staff speaks english and all are super accomodating.

We were very excited to come to this property as per the website pictures, reviews and that the owner, Cynthia, is a Canadian, like us. The pictures on the website are mostly what is factual, however our room was not at all acceptable . It was very dark; bed was uncomfortable; there were only four hooks to hang our clothes - no closet, no coat hangers; no dresser; no vanity or anywhere to put our toiletries; hand marks on the walls; cracked tiles in the shower; no light in the vanity area; toilet was not cleaned properly, and NO MAID service to clean after we checked in and we were there for two overnights. Our room key was left in the office everyday, so there was no excuse for the maid not to clean. The overall cleanliness of the room was average. There are no toiletries supplied in the room except for toilet paper and hand soap at the vanity. The toilet seat was the wrong seat for the toilet that it overlapped the toilet base and was not a proper fit.

I truly enjoyed my stay here and wished it would have been longer. Very friendly and helpful staff, welcoming owners and amazing grounds made for a wonderful stay and great base to explore the Island. Great views, very walk-able, even the small hill up to it. But rides can be arranged too if needed.

Nice quiet place , staff very atentive , good trails to walk around the island near by, pizza restaurant , host very friendly will be back , nice rooms also very confy , the view is amazing aswell , they also offer discount on a near by restaurant for breakfast
